Personal Overview

Dr. He’s research interest lies at the intersection of Materials Engineering, Electrochemistry, and Synchrotron X-ray Scattering, with a primary research goal of achieving water security by developing advanced materials and sustainable engineering approaches for decarbonization and water remediation. Dr. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2019, after which he stayed briefly as a postdoc at VCU before moving to Argonne National Laboratory, where he worked with the Solar Energy Conversion Group and the Advanced Materials for Energy-Water Systems (AMEWS) Center, an Energy Frontier Research Center funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. He has filed a patent, authored a book chapter, and published over 30 peer-reviewed papers. Many of these papers are published in high-impact journals (i.e., impact factor > 8) and featured as journal covers. Dr. He's academic achievements have been recognized by several prestigious awards, including the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad.
